Every January, “get fit” tops the New Year’s resolution list. Just look around at all the new faces at Yoga from the Heart, and it’s clear that yoga is a popular—and rewarding—way to do just that. But before you get jumpstart a new yoga routine, you’ve got to know what you’re looking for.
First, if you’re new to yoga, you’ll want to do a bit of reading to prepare yourself and avoid any surprises. For example, what types of yoga are there? What can you expect when you walk into the studio? A little yoga 101 can go a long way to make you feel comfortable.
Second, you want to choose the right studio for you—what kind of instructor are you looking for? What kind of certification should they have, etc.—and that, too, takes research.
We spoke to the popular women’s website, Divine Caroline, about how to get started on a safe, enjoyable and sustainable yoga journey. Please read and share our two stories, “6 Tips for Yoga Beginners” and “7 Steps to Vet Your Yoga Instructor.” We’d love to spread the word and help others.
