Rise n’ shine yoga? YES!
Let the mug of hot coffee and bowl of cheerios wait. Yoga is my favorite day-starter. And lucky for me, Janie Gibson at Yoga from the Heart offers two 7 a.m. classes per week so that I can share my wake-up call on the mat with other early risers.
We begin with breathing exercises and gentle stretches. We move mindfully though energizing sun salutations into strength-building standing poses. We continue to warm and loosen our sleepy joints with ‘just-enough’ twists and folds. We end our early morning ‘hour of power’ with deep relaxation.
When the chime rings, I’m filled with a feeling of peace and calm that I can carry with me into the world outside the studio doors. My muscles and mind are energized, ready for whatever the rest of the day might bring.
So…next Monday or Thursday morning, when the alarm rings, don’t automatically roll over and hit the snooze button. Please consider rolling out of bed, and rolling into Yoga from the Heart for the 7 a.m. ‘Early Riser’ class with Janie. You’ll be glad you did!
