…unless you practice.
You become at ease, having more of an idea of how to transition, your breath softens, your muscles lengthen and you feel better after practicing yoga.
When you practice two times a week, consistency offers more tangible results. Yoga, like other physical activities (think golf or tennis) is based on the understanding that muscle memory is stored in a part of your brain. The mantra becomes “carve the grooves into the brain, forging your muscle memory with every stroke”.
The way our brain works is the number one reason why practice makes perfect. We know from sports like skiing or running that you have to do the same thing again and again and again to hard wire it into long term-muscle memory that is stored in the brain.
While getting to class twice a week may be a stretch (no pun intended), keeping sight of the benefits your mind and body experience from the practice makes getting there a little easier and worth the time, effort and energy.
