At Yoga from the Heart, you will find some of the most in-depth advanced studies and transformational teacher training programs in the country. Led by Lynn Burgess, a yoga veteran with more than 15 years of teaching experience and protégé of Rodney Yee, our program is designed to give students a comprehensive education into the physical, technical and spiritual aspects of the practice. Lynn and her staff of passionate, authentic educators utilize more than 50 years of combined yoga teaching experience to offer teacher trainees the following:
Yoga-Alliance approved: Yoga from the Heart is Sarasota’s original Yoga Alliance-approved teacher training program and we continue to be certified by this premier yoga institution each year. Our focus is to provide teacher trainees a genuine, unique and personal experience through yoga. Graduates from the program will be eligible to apply for the highly respected “Registered Yoga Teacher” (RYT) designation from Yoga Alliance.
Compassionate community: We welcome people from every age and walk of life. Upon entering our studio, students feel a profound sense of acceptance, peace and warmth from others in our family-like yoga community.
Mentor Groups: In addition to weekend trainings, our program matches each student with an experienced teacher for unique mentoring experiences. Our students cherish the connection they have with their mentors and are encouraged to work closely with them during the duration of the training. Our mentorship program is included in the training cost, thereby increasing the value and benefit for each trainee.
Unique approach to learning: At Yoga from the Heart, we empower our trainees to reach their own insights through our program and to trust themselves. We do not believe in teaching templated sequences or strict regimentation. Instead, we encourage our students to discover their own teaching voice.
Post-training employment help: While many of our students enroll to deepen their personal practice, others aim to start a business or land a related job, post-training. Each year we invite graduates into our teaching community as substitutes and members of our permanent staff. We also regularly refer graduates to facilities in search of teachers. We find that our graduates have high rates of success in starting careers as certified yoga instructors at local wellness centers, gyms and yoga studios.
Broad-based yoga teachings: Armed with the experience of working with yoga luminaries such as Rodney Yee and Tias Little, our teachers impart the wisdom of a variety of yoga styles onto students. Whether your passion is rigorous Vinyasa or soothing restoratives, we provide you with rich and varied courses of study that include asana, anatomy and instructional tools to share your passion for yoga with others.
Profound personal growth: Past students tell us that they felt truly transformed following the completion of our program. Many people come to us when at a crossroads in their lives and find peace and a sense of freedom upon going through training. Regardless of the reason for enrollment, students tend to carve out a path to personal growth while on their yoga mat.
